Hi Pamie,
I took a break from studying for finals to donate $20. Now, my last donation was to the Kerry/Edwards campaign, so let’s all hope this donation does a little more good than that one did!
Thanks for using your powers for good,
bex

Dear Pamie,
Way to light a fire under people who were kind of wanting to donate (again) anyway. I like seeing the total climb, and I think the contest angle is going to send it over the edge. WOOO!
Here’s ten dollars of birthday money (thanks, Grandma) for Kancheepuram.

Hey Pamie,
Sometimes, a person needs a kick in the ass to get their head out of their own little world. Your book drive this year was it for me. My job is coming to an end in two months, causing me to be more than a little, shall we say, preoccupied with money (or the possible significant lack thereof) lately. But I had also promised myself that I would make another donation to tsunami relief, later this year, after all the news had died down. Your book drive got me out of my head and reminded me to do it.
The fund just got $20. I wish I could give more. I may not have a job soon, but I have an apartment, friends, family, obnoxious pets, more household goods than most people ever have in a lifetime and an education. I hope my donation helps the these kids regain some of those things I take for granted every day.
And while it goes without saying (but I will anyway), you rawk!!

Hi, Pamie.
I just donated $10.
I know it’s not much, but I’m graduating from High School in two weeks, and I’ve yet to get a job for the summer. I got one of my graduation presents in the mail today (a check, for $10), and, after I saw the book drive yesterday, it didn’t feel right to me to spend on myself. It’s the first time I’ve had either the money to donate, or the credit card of my own to donate with.
Why should I burn it on more songs for my iPod? Those can wait, but these kids can’t.
I hope that it helps.

Just zipped off $15 in hopes another child can experience the wonder of a brand new box of crayons.

Pamie,
I just had to donate $20 to the cause. I usually feel like I cannot donate enough to make a difference on internet fundraisers. Thanks for proving me wrong.
Thank you,

Heya Pamie,
Thanks for digging up a very awesome cause for this year’s book drive. $60 and 12 more kids back to school, hurrah! Since San Diego has been the recipient of the fabulous generosity of you and your readers in the past, I’m glad as a San Diegan to be able to give back…sort of.
All my best,
Vickie

Hi Pamie,
I had some trouble donating through the Asha website in Friday, but I just checked my credit card statement and my $50 donation went through. Yay! Thanks for raising awareness for this awesome cause. It’s truly rewarding to see how so little from us can help these kids so much. I’m spreading the word.

Hi, Pamie,
Wanted to let you know that I made a $10 donation. I just this week quit my job to go back to school, and it seems fitting to mark the occasion by sponsoring a couple of kids to start back with me. (Of course, if I hadn’t quit I could have afforded to send more… hmm….) Thanks for prodding us to do something!

Hi, Pamie!
I just sent $10 to the book drive. I’d hoped to donate more, but I’m moving next weekend, and my finances are tighter than usual. I’m thrilled that the drive been going so well that I had to get in what I could now, while I had the chance. I need to be one of the cool kids! :-)
Thanks for all the work you’re putting into this!

Hi Pam,
I sent in $50.00 back on the first or second day of the drive (I forgot to send you an email on that one though!) and inspired by the progress we are making toward meeting the ultimate goal and supporting every child possible, I have sent in a second donation today for $25.00. Thanks for making this possible and inspiring all of us with your good heart!
Best, Alison

Hi Pamie,
This is a great initiative again, and I’m happy to be able to help out. You rock!
I donated $250, and I’ll leave it up to you to figure out how many students got supplies from that.
Annette (Paris, France)
P.S. After reading your book, and loving it, last year, I’ve given the book as presents to several friends. It’s unanimous, they all loved it too!

I done donated $24 which is a little over 5 students. So it’s like five students and then like a hand of another student. I hope it’s the right hand of a right-handed child. I play favorites.
Go Asha!

Hi Pam,
I just donated $50 to this year’s book drive. In an amazing coincidence, I have been reading a lot of Indian literature lately
(well, I just finished A Suitable Boy, and that felt like I read seven books), so who knows? I could be reading something by one of these kids one day. Fabulous idea–glad to help.

Pamie,
Things are a bit tight for my husband and I, but we each found $35 CDN to send in. Together we just sent $55 US, which will send about 12 kids back to school!
Thank you, Pamie. You’re a hero. The world needs more Pam-like heros.

It wasn’t completely clear to me that they’re keeping track by people who came from your website, but I guess it’s not like you’re keeping track either.
Anyway, there it is. Wish it could be more, but the IRS wants my money to pay for W’s penile inadequacy, and TiVo stock isn’t really helping out like it’s supposed to, dammit.
I’m really glad you’re doing this.
