Hey, pamie!

I took a page from AB Chao‘s book, since she’s so cool and skipped the cute shoes and sent in $50 instead. Pretty easy decision- send 10 kids to school or buy something I don’t need.

I also spread the word to my lj (LiveJournal) peeps, so hopefully those folks will donate and spread the word far and wide into that side of the world.

You rock!

Hey Pam,

$50 sent to your charity this time. I think it’s a very good one. We did something similar at my company for kids in Iraq, where we actually brought in the supplies (they gave us a list), and managed to fill up two huge cartfuls.

Great stuff, as ever.

Hi Pamie

You always amaze me with your generosity and your knack for getting others to get out there and help the world! I’ve donated $20 to the Keelarkolai Colony. Even though I’ll never get to meet those kids, I hope my donation in some small way means the ability to read – and, by extension, the love of reading – will spread even further. And if it costs me lunch for the rest of the month, I can stand to lose a few kilos!

I just made a donation of $70 to this year’s book drive. This is my third year contributing- keep up the good work. The pledge form wouldn’t accept decimals, so I have proudly sponsored approx. 15.1843818 children. I will take my karma in fractions.

P.S. no website to link- thanks again for organizing something so great.

Pamie,

This idea is a wonderful one. . . I’ve donated $36, double chai (life in Hebrew), because that’s what reading gave me long ago.

Hi Pam!

I just donated $50. I am constantly impressed by your determination to make the world a better place. You rock! And it’s extra cool to know this book drive helps people who are in an area that needs support so badly.

Yay!

Lots of love,

Jacq.

Hi Pamie,

What luck! I don’t check your site for a few days and find out that I am late for the party, I guess better late than never, though. I just wanted to let you know that I donated $35.00 for the book drive.

This is the first time I have been aware/able to help and was happy to do it. I don’t know what it is about you, but you really seem to inspire people to do good things. The popularity of your site and the response for your book drives shows that you have touched many people.(dirty?) I know that you have inspired me, in more ways than one. Like many others have said, the world is a better and funnier place with you in it. Thanks for sharing your life with us.

I am poor, poor, poor this year, but my birthday was Sunday, and I got the annual Birthday Check from my grandparents. It’s one dollar for each year of my life, and one to grow on. I’ve thrown in a dollar of my own, to round it up to $25. Because, really, do I need another pair of shoes? No. But these kids do, and books and pencils and stuff, too, and if the Birthday Check can make that happen, then that’s how it happens.

$55 from me, in two donations. I gave $25, then felt like I could do better and immediately went back to double it. The well-meaning website, trying to protect against accidental double-clicks, rejected my duplicate transaction, so I raised it to $30 the second time. So, once again, computers improve our lives in completely unintentional ways.

Hi Pamie,
I donated ten bucks. It’s all I can spare right now (just paid the tuition for my summer graduate class) but it’s something. What a wonderful way to harness your popularity (heh, that sounds like you’re a Mean Girl). You, and your readers, rock.

Hi.

I sent a check for $50 by mail, so it may not show up in the online total. Thanks for finding a way for us to help. And I agree with you about the karma.

Hey Pamie-

After sending my student loan payment in I was feeling particularly selfish, but then I remembered that these kids definitely have had to go through more than I ever have or ever will.

So all that in mind, I could only scrape together $30.

Thanks for doing this again.

Hi Pamie,

I just donated $25 – It makes me feel good to know that, in small part because of me, kids far away will be able to have the supplies they need to get an education.

You rock!

I put $20 in today (can’t remember what this is in $NZ but bah, it’s close enough!). I wish I could give more, but we have so many overdue bills right now I’m swimming. I’d rather give to them than buy dinner tonight (though I’m not sure the fellow mouths in the house will be so pleased when I cook!) – It’s so important that these kids get their education.. I am immensely proud to have been a part, even a small one.

Keep up the good- no, GREAT work, Pamie.

Hi there,

I just donated $50. I figure paying off a little karmic debt is worth paying off a little less plastic debt this month.

Thanks for the great work!

Pam,

I don’t visit your site for a week and a half and you go and get all generous on me again! I really need to learn to keep up.

Anyway, my boyfriend would kill me if he knew, but thankfully he’s not much for using the Internet. So, I gave $50. Don’t tell!

$6468 raised to date, with 1403 kids sponsored. We’re just under six hundred dollars from our second goal of sending half the kids in the village back to school. Thanks again to everybody for being a part of this.
